Doshii was originally written internally at a POS Vendor to support cafe and restaurant seating, ordering and payments at any venue through a single app. We felt the pain of developing and maintaining dozens of integrations leading to little or no benefit to the POS software and this was our attempt at cutting down on that ongoing cost.
We call this initial delivery "v1" and after the project was complete, it became clear that we could do a lot more with what we had made. We decided to open it up for other Vendors and Apps which would not only cut the ongoing maintenance cost for us, but for everybody. The entire industry could benefit from and help develop a communication standard.
