This tends to happen if an order is sent to a point of sale system that is offline.
If a POS is offline when an app sends through an order, the app won't receive a response from the POS.
Some apps will cancel an order automatically if no response is received from the POS within a certain time.
If an app doesn't do this, the order is sent through when the POS comes online again (sometimes hours later), as if it had just been placed.
