Doshii receives your menu from Lightspeed. This menu includes items, option groups and variants:
- An item is a stand alone item. An item is most often sold on its own (e.g., Hamburger).
- An option group is a grouping of variants that can be applied to an item (e.g., Choose your size, or Add a side). An option group cannot be sold on its own, as it's just a container for variants.
- A variant is contained within an option group (e.g., Small, Medium, Large, or Chips, Salad, Vegetables). A variant cannot be sold as a standalone item.
When creating an online menu, a certain menu structure must be maintained. Some POS validate how items, options and variants can be used in an order.
Lightspeed has different types of menu items, for more information please read this article.
Please be aware if you have Product Variants in your Lightspeed POS menu, these will be sent to Doshii as individual items.
Option sets and Modifiers will be synced to Doshii as option groups. Lightspeed does not recommend using Modifiers in online menus.
If you have modifiers in your Lightspeed POS and want to connect an online ordering App, we recommend you re-create these as Options Sets in your Lightspeed POS. You can learn more about how to do this here.
Lightspeed does not support the concept of global options (where any variant can be linked to any item). For Lightspeed to accept an order with a variant, the option set MUST be linked to the item in your Lightspeed POS. You may find that some of our menu products will restrict you from linking invalid options to your app menu items. This is designed to reduce errors where we know Lightspeed will not accept that combination of items and options.
You cannot create POS items and options in Doshii; they must be created in your Lightspeed POS. Any changes you make to your menu in your Lightspeed POS will automatically sync to Doshii.
