Doshii receives your menu from Square. This menu includes items, option groups and variants:
- An item is a stand alone item. An item is most often sold on its own (e.g., Hamburger).
- An option group is a grouping of variants that can be applied to an item (e.g., Choose your size, or Add a side). An option group cannot be sold on its own, as it's just a container for variants.
- A variant is contained within an option group (e.g., Small, Medium, Large, or Chips, Salad, Vegetables). A variant cannot be sold as a standalone item.
When creating an online menu, a certain menu structure must be maintained.
Square does not allow you to use variants as items, so you will find this cannot be done when building your online menu.
If you have item variations in your Square POS, these will be sent to Doshii as items. If you need these to be to be created as options, you will need to create Options Sets in your Square POS for these to sync into the Doshii menu as variants. You can learn more about how to do this here.
You cannot create items and options in Doshii; they must be created in your Square POS. Any changes you make to your menu in your Square POS will automatically sync to Doshii.
If you have created items in your POS and you cannot see them in Doshii, please email Doshii Customer Success and we can perform a manual sync of your Square POS menu for you.
